Student Events
The WS Society runs a student programme to inspire early-stage lawyers and law students entering the legal profession.
ADENTURES IN LAW
Hear from leading lawyers about their career. At this event a panel of senior practitioners will discuss their careers to date. The event offers an opportunity for students and early stage lawyers to hear honestly from senior lawyers as they discuss their experiences and route to the profession.
Speed Networking
Students are invited to join a number of leading lawyers, from trainee to partner, devil to advocate, who work in private practice, government, academic and in-house legal roles. Students will have the opportunity to network for around 5/6 minutes with each professional in attendance. This event is designed to allow students to build their professional networks with leading individuals and learn about the variety of legal careers available to them.
SpeCIAL INTEREST GROUP
This special interest group provides a space for students to meet online and in person with their peers and invited members of the Society. It is a bridge between the academic study of law and the reality of practicing it in Scotland. See all our SIGs here.
Summer Scholars Programme
The WS Summer Scholars programme offers a unique opportunity to participants to raise their profile and sharpen their research and presentation skills in preparation for the world of legal work.
The programme is tailored each year to cover contemporary legal issues and will include an assigned, team-based research project, working towards a presentation to external delegates and the production of a report for publication. You will be overseen by Principal Solicitor, Sophie Mills WS and assisted by the Society’s trainee solicitor.
The programme is open to 3rd and 4th year students from the four year LLB undergraduate degree, 2nd year students from the accelerated LLB Degree and Diploma students.
